Back in 2012 we heard some news from some sources that Microsoft is releasing their Office Suit for iPad, but at that point most people thought it as a rumor because there was no official announcement from Microsoft on it and many thought why would someone need that on a tablet. But guess what Microsoft was actually working on it and few days ago it eventually officially announced the release of app on iPad.
The Suit is free of cost to download from the Apple's App Store. Users will be able to view all of their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on the iPad. But to create a document and to edit a document the user have to purchase the 365 subscription. Pricing of this 365 subscription can be seen on Microsoft Office page.
Instead of paying for the software once as a whole, Microsoft has adopted this new strategy of paying for the software's license of use on monthly basis. Lets see how this strategy of generating revenue by the new CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella, works out.
Regarding the development of the package. Microsoft said that it not a ported version of Windows software to iOS, nor the iPhone app running at 2x. It has been developed from scratch, the Excel also features its own keyboard keys with different formulas and function.
