If you find the name of your WiFi network boring or if you are inspired by someone's else WiFi name and want to change your too. Then you have clicked the right link. This article is about changing the name of your wireless network. Wifi/Wireless network name is also called the SSID (Service Set Identifier) and to change it you have to look for it in your wireless router's configuration. Changing the name of your Wifi network to something ticklish also helps avoid stealing of Wifi i.e virus.exe, get your own wifi, dont connet secret.
The steps that I will explain below might vary on your wireless network as they are different on each vendor but they will be some what similar. I hope it will help you. So lets get started.
Thats all. If you face any problem or need help, feel free to contact me on FaceBook. I will be glad to help.- Open up your web browser and type the IP address of your Wifi router and type the login details i.e "admin" for user and password both. In case you don't know that, look at the back of your Wifi router where the specifications are written and you find the IP address of the router your can also find it in the manual of the wireless router. In most cases its 192.168.1.1. If the IP address did'nt worked the ISP might have changed it to protect the router form unauthorized changes. If thats the case you might have to reset the Wifi router. To reset the router press and hold the reset button on the wireless router for 5 seconds and he settings of the router will be reverted to default including the IP address of the router but after that you have to configure the wifi router again. I have written a guide about it here.
- After you are in the configuration panel, locate and click on "Wireless".
- Locate "SSID" and type the desired name you want for your Wifi network and click on Save.
