Why Flappy Bird was Deleted from Google Play and App Store

Flappy Bird is an indie game for smartphones which gained so much popularity in a very small amount of time. It was put on the aap store in the mid of 2013 and in January 2014 it was earning around 50,000$ every day. In the first few months it was not so popular but suddenly its popularity increased dramatically. But eventually in February the creator of the game Dong Nguyen tweeted that he is deleting the game from store. At first people thought it might be a marketing stunt but he really did deleted the game after his announcement and left many wondering why would he would he do that while he was earning quick heavy amount from his app using ads and how it gained so much popularity suddenly .

Well here is the story behind that. Before a few months of taking the app down from app store the game had very little download rate and popularity but eventually its download rate sky rocketed and every one was playing and talking about the games difficulty level. People with knowledge about the app market claim that he used malpractices to make the game appear in the spotlight and top apps list of app store. By posting thousand of fake reviews about the game and the game started to show up in the Apple Store top apps.

Now, why he took the game down from the app store and Google play. Well we all saw that the game had copied graphics from Nintendo's Mario game. Which made a case of copyright infringement on him. He then released a new updated version with the graphics replaced but Nintendo issued a notice to him for deleting the game and he had to do that. And the awesome game got deleted from the smartphone stores
.
