If you share your PC with other and are concerned about the piracy of your files without letting others know. Then there is a very easy and simple solution for that. You can hide the partitions containing your personal files on the hard drive and it doe'nt even require to install any additional software, all this can be done by the built in tools in Windows.
How to hide a partition
To hide a partition on your Windows OS. We need to follow the following steps.
Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and open the file gpedit.msc This will open the Windows group policy editor.
In Local Group Policy Editor navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer. Now on the right side there will a bunch of option double click on "Hide these specific drives in My Computer".
Now click on "Enable" and from the drop-down menu below "Pick one of the following combinations" select a drive or combination of drives that you want to hide on you computer. After that click on OK.
All done, your desired partition is hidden now and is not visible in file explorer (i.e My Computer etc.)
How to access the hidden partition
To access the hidden hard drive partition in windows. Simply open "My Computer" and folder, and in the address bar type the letter of the hidden partition followed by ":" and hit enter on your keyboard.
To restore and unhide the partition. Open gpedit.msc again and locate and open the "Hide these specific drives in My Computer" option and click on "Disable".
