Yes you can control your android based phone or tablet through your PC. You can access the messages on your phone, your call history, data on your phone's SD card, you can even see all the installed apps of your phone and can uninstall them if you want directly from your PC. If you have a apk file of the app that you want on your phone but don't want to connect your phone to PC through the USB wire you can do that too wirelessly and if that was not fascinating enough, you can access the camera of your phone through your PC. I will tell you how you do that.
There are many apps for that but the one that is my favorite and is best of all of them is AirDroid and has all the possibilities that I mentioned. First of all you have the install the app on your Android device (obviously) and register a account with AirDroid. After that login to AirDroid on your device. When you login it will show you a IP Address on the dashboard, enter that IP address into your PC browser or open AirDroid's website and click login and enter your login details and thats all you have access to your phone or tablet through your PC browser. As simple as that.
