But first I will put some light on the term backlink and will tell you how they work.

What is backlink?

A backlink is a link on a external high PR blog or website that points toward your blog or website. Google has some bots/crawlers which crawl every website known to them and index its pages with google search engine.S o whenever someone search for a specific content in google it appears in the result. Putting a backlink on a high PR blog helps google bots to crawl into your website and index all its pages with google. The more backlinks you have, the more your pages gets indexed with google search and increases your website's domain's Page Rank (PR). Which will bring your blog on the first page of google when someone search for a content that is available on your website.

How to create a backlink?

Backlink is created with HTML tags. I have created a backlink below. In the code below replace the text in blue color with the url of website for which you are creating a backlink and replace the text in red color with the name of that website for which the backlink is created or any other text of your choice that describes the website.
 <a href="Domain" > Blog Name  </a>
dofollow backlink

Do follow back links are open invitation to search engine crawlers. Crawlers will crawl into your blog if they find a backlink of it on website and will index its pages with the search engine which will help in increasing the traffic of the blog. The more dofollow backlinks the blog has the more popular and trust worthy it is to search engines as it is crawled again and again by the search engine bot/crawlers. The syntax for creating a dofollow backlink is mentioned below.

<a href="Domain" rel="dofollow"> Blog Name </a>
Replace the text in blue color with the address of your blog and text in red color with the name of your blog and any other text in the above code. A backlink with no "rel" attribute also works as a dofollow backlink.

nofollow backlink

Nofollow backlinks are inverse to dofollow backlinks for crawlers. They have a "nofollow" rel attribute inside it and search engine bots don't crawl them nor index its pages. They also increase the popularity of the blog, when some one clicks them they redirect him to your blog but they dont play any role in increasing the popularity of blog in search engines. The syntax for creating a nofollow backlink is mentioned below
.
<a href="Domain" rel="nofollow"> Blog Name </a>
